Power Rangers are human warriors who 'morph' into a superhuman form which gives them extraordinary strength, combat ability and durability. The television series 'Power Rangers' was distributed by Saban Entertainment in 1993 and was broadcast on the Fox Network until 2001 when Power Rangers then changed ownership to Disney. The concept is based on the Super Sentai series of shows. Throughout the series the Power Rangers fight hard to combat monsters and they soon realise the importance of teamwork. The Power Rangers often use gigantic machines known as Zords to combat their enemy, which can also be combined to form Megazords. Films including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997) have been released since the TV series started.

Between 1993 and 1996, 155 Episodes were released, marking the beginning of the successful series. Sorceress Rita Repulsa was released from prison and the Power Rangers were formed by Zordon to combat this evil. Power Coins were used in these early episodes, however these were destroyed and the Zeo Crystal was introduced. Turbo Powers were introduced during 1997 – 1998 and the Rangers took off for outer space in 1999 to fight the princess of evil, Astronema. Year 2005 has seen the Power Rangers S.P.D who are united together to fight against the evil emperor Gruumm. 2006 looks set for yet more adventure, as the Power Rangers Mystic Force must defend Earth.

Toys were introduced to coincide with the different series which all relate to the different storylines since the launch of the series in 1993. Action figures, machines, weapons, vehicles and playsets can all be purchased. These toys have been extremely popular, especially with boys, and there are no signs that this is about to slow down! The Mystic Force series introduces a whole new cast of characters and a great adventure for the Power Rangers. Five courageous teenagers, all experts in casting spells are picked by Udonna to defeat the forces of evil that intend on destroying people of Earth. Although the powerful wizards managed to banish the dark evil to the underworld, when they awake and rise they will be back with a vengeance. The five Power Rangers Nick (Red Mystic Ranger), Xander (Green), Madison (Blue), Chip (Yellow) and Vida (Pink) fight alongside Udonna – the white Ranger to keep the world a peaceful place to live. However, Udonna loses her Mystic Powers and it is up to the Rangers alone. In this series the Rangers costumes are very futuristic, with different styles for the girls and boys and a cape for each Ranger!

SPD (2005)

Earth is a peaceful planet where humans and alien beings have learned to co-exist. However once again the world is under threat from attack and the Power Rangers must come together and defend their planet. At the Space Patrol Delta (S.D.P) Academy, many young keen students are learning the skills involved to become a Power Ranger, however only the best will make it. When Anubis Cruger (S.P.D mentor) learns that the A-Squad have disappeared, it is up to him to choose a B-Squad to take their place in the battle. The B-Squad consists of Jack (Red Ranger), Sky (Blue Ranger), Bridge (Green), Z (Yellow) and Syd (Pink). The Rangers are trained by Doggie – the Shadow Ranger and they receive help from Sam (the Omega Ranger from the future), Kat and her new Delta ATV and Nova.

Dino Thunder (2004)

This series of the Power Rangers sees the return of Tommy – possibly the greatest Power Ranger of all who starred in the earlier episodes such as Morphin and Zeo. Tommy is now older (has short hair) and works as a professor specialising in the study of dinosaurs and prehistoric beings – a coincidence perhaps that dinosaur monsters are about to try and take over world and return Earth to a prehistoric age. Dr. Tommy Oliver has been put in charge of detention students and it is here that we meet the new Power Rangers; Kira (Yellow Dino Ranger), Conner (Red) and Ethan (Blue). The students stumble across the Dino Gems and are given the powers they need to defend the Earth from the terrifying Dinosaur monsters. Tommy joins the crew as the Black Dino Ranger and a new member Trent joins them as the White Dino Ranger.

Ninja Storm (2003)

Three students of Wind Ninja Academy named Shane, Dustin and Tori were struggling with their ninja skills. However they are pushed to the limit when evil Master Lothor takes hostage all other ninja students from the academy leaving them to defend the school. With the help of their mentors son Cam (the Samurai Ranger), two Thunder Rangers (Blake and Hunter) and their Zords and Storm Megazord they defeat the villains and return to their town of Blue Bay. When the battle is over, they all become teachers at the Wind Ninja Academy except Blake who continued racing.

Wild Force (2002)

The Wild Force storyline focuses around a young man named Cole Evans who lived in the quaint little town of Turtle Cove. He always knew he was destined for great things and was right; he soon became the leader of the Wild Force Power Rangers. Four others join him in the adventure to conquer the evil characters known as Orgs, the Rangers were Danny (Back Ranger), Max (Blue), Taylor (Yellow), Alyssa (White) and Merrick – the Lunar Wolf Ranger. During the adventure, the Power Rangers found all sorts of jungle animal Zords including the Giraffe, the Elephant, Bears, a Rhino and the Gorilla. The Wild force Rangers also seek help from the Time Force Rangers to destroy the Orgs that threaten the Earth.

Time Force (2001)

This series is set in the year 3000 and the police squad named Time Force have managed to catch almost all the criminals creating a safe and peaceful atmosphere. However the one criminal they are yet to catch (Ransik) is potentially the most dangerous and plots to set free all the past convicts back into the community. Ransik succeeds in his mission and causes havoc everywhere, he also finds a way to travel back in time (to 2001) in attempt to alter the future and he injures the Red Time Force Ranger Alex. Back now in 2001 the Rangers attempt to follow Ransik but instead they bump in a guy named Wesley who spookily looks just like Alex. Wesley joins the other rangers; Lucas (Blue Time Force Ranger), Jen (Pink Ranger). Katie (Yellow Ranger) and Trip (Green Ranger). There is also a Quantum Ranger called Eric. The villains admit defeat when Ransik almost kills his daughter. The Power Rangers return to the year 3000 with their new found Rangers Wesley and Eric.

A sixth Ranger Ryan joined them after an experiment for revenge went wrong, he was known as the Titanium Ranger. New, powerful zords were created to assist the rangers in their battles, these zords later turned into megazords when the vehicles came together. Lightspeed was the name of the security and protection agency that recruited the five Rangers.

Lost Galaxy (1999)

This series brings a whole new cast of characters as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Leo - the new red ranger longed for an adventure so hid upon a ship heading to outer space. The last ranger Mike (Leo's older brother) finds Magna Defender who is injured, Magna takes in Mike's powers so they can escape and heads out to get revenge on the evil forces. Space (1998)

The Power Rangers lost all their Turbo Powers and were in need of something greater to defeat the evil characters that were still trying to take over the world. Among them were Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa (from the very first series) and the Machine Empire. On top of that, their first mentor Zordon had been kidnapped by their new evil leader Dark Specter and the Power Rangers had to travel into space to save him and bring return the universe to normal. Turbo (1997)

Tommy, Rocky, Tanya, Kat and Adam are sent back in time to when they are children to find pieces of the Zeo crystal. They must find all the pieces in order to return the Earth back to its normal state. Badies in this series included Master Vile, Rita Repulsa. Lord Zedd and the Machine Empire (who all want to take over the world)! The rangers sought help from Trey, a gold ranger but the powers were given to Jason (the Red Ranger from Morphin) to help them defeat evil. Four of the six Zeo rangers then went on to star in the next series Turbo.

Morphin (1993-1996)

The Power Rangers story began when Rita Repulsa tried to take over the world. Five local teenagers were chosen by Zordon (goody) to stand up against the evil Rita Repulsa and gave them special powers.
