Harry PotterFrom ToyReview
[edit] Brand OverviewHarry Potter is a young wizard, orphaned when just a baby and famous in the wizard world for being the only person to escape death after being in contact with the hideous creature Voldemort, who killed both his parents. The journey begins when Harry leaves his nasty auntie and uncle to attend Hogwarts School of wizardry where he develops relationships, curiosity and his magical powers. Each book/film takes Harry on a journey meeting terrifying obstacles and revealing new plots, increasing Harry's braveness and ensuring he is always the hero. The popularity of the books and films has been astounding resulting in J. K. Rowling (the author of the books) becoming a very rich lady! The series has also led to the launch of a number of spin-offs; Harry Potter video games, each one a mysterious battle against evil, Harry Potter toys such as action figures, models and trains and Harry Potter dressing up costumes such as Harry's wizard cape. [edit] Books, Films and ToysThe legend of Harry Potter began many years ago as a popular series of books written by J. K. Rowling. The first book was published in 1997 entitled Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. At this time only few people had heard of Harry Potter, word of the book travelled through fans spreading their newfound hobby to friends and family. The next books to be published were called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Again, many people were unaware of the books and sales relied on good reviews and word of mouth. During 2000, Warner Brothers picked up on the series and began developing the books into films. The first film (derived from the first book) was released in 2001 and captured the hearts of thousands of people all around the UK. The success of the film led to an increase in sales of books and demand for more films to be made. The addictive, imaginative storyline was unique and appealed to audiences of all ages; popularity of Harry Potter grew and grew, everybody was dying to find out what happened next. J. K. Rowling has continued to produce original storylines written in her distinctive style, each book proving more popular than the last. At present the first four books have been made into extremely successful films, these include: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Video games and merchandise, such as action figures, the Hogwarts Express train and dressing up costumes are also popular products. [edit] Harry PotterOne of Harry's most distinctive features is his circular glasses; they give him his geeky appearance that make the audience empathise with him. His brown floppy hair that covers his legendary scar is also a distinct feature we associate with Harry because he has had the same haircut throughout the four films. Harry's look in the first film portrayed him as being innocent, shy and uncertain as he learned of his past and heritage and tried to fit in at Hogwarts. By the end of the film we see him in a new light; he is respected, mature and very brave. Each film allows the audience to recognise even stronger characteristics and realise why Harry is the most famous wizard in Hogwarts history. [edit] Useful LinksLeave Your Own Review
