[edit] Toy Overview The 'Cali Girl Barbie' collection sees Barbie with her new lifestyle on the beaches of California, soaking up the sun with her new friends. Barbie wears the latest beach gear and shows off her trendy accessories on her suntanned body. All the Cali Girl dolls wear fashion tops and shorts and come with a bottle of sun tan lotion to keep them from burning in the hot sunshine. The great thing about these dolls is the fact that they all come smelling of suntan lotion and have suntanned skin! Barbie looks radiant with her long blonde hair and bright blue eyes - a suntan does wonders to brighten up a complexion! All the dolls also come with painted toe nails which is a great feature of the collection. This particular Barbie doll is part of the second wave of Cali Girl dolls and was launched with Blaine, Teresa and Summer. This Barbie theme is aimed at older children who have perhaps grown out of the traditional fairytale Barbie. With strong competition in the market (e.g. from the Bratz dolls) Barbie has had to come up with new ways of appealing to older children. [edit] Barbie's Surfin' Appearance  Barbie has long blonde hair with brown streaks that match her golden brown complexion. Her hair is styled to keep it from covering her face and is twisted up into a knot at the back of her head. She has some stylish blue sunglasses on her head and wears pale blue earrings in her ears. Barbie's eyes are bright blue and sparkle against her sun kissed complexion. Across her eyes she has two shades of brown eye shadow and her eyelashes have been separated with mascara. She wears a touch of pink blusher to accentuate her cheekbones and pink lipstick to brighten up her lips. Her mouth is slightly open, revealing her straight white teeth. Compared to other dolls, such as the Bratz, Barbie's facial features are much more in proportion to her face. As usual, Barbie looks incredibly beautiful and the sun on the beaches of California is obviously doing wonders for her new found lifestyle! A great feature of this Cali Girl range is that all the dolls come with painted toe nails - Barbie's are a purple/pink shade. The feet have been designed differently to allow for this though so old shoes won't fit!  Barbie wears a simple outfit, appropriate for surfing on the waves. Her top is white with a high neck and short sleeves. It has dark blue stitching on the front and light blue circles that look like drops of water. Across her chest is a panel of baby blue waterproof material - the top looks and feels a bit like a wetsuit! There is a black logo in the centre with CG written in it and the top does up at the back with velcro. She wears little blue shorts that appear to be made of the same material and have a big white flower design on the right side. They have a black waistband and again, do up at the back with velcro. Barbie has a surfer dude anklet on her left leg, full of brown and cream beads and comes packages with a cardboard surfboard. Her overall look is fresh and flirty - she looks ready to hit the waves or perhaps she could join Blaine on a jet ski and head off into the sunset! Barbie has a classic look that is timeless and she looks beautiful no matter what she wears.
