B-Daman is a marble shooting toy that can be customised to compete in various types of games. Originally produced in Japan by Takara, B-Daman became an animated TV series in 1993 and was modeled after Bomberman. In 2005, Hasbro sold the toy under the longer name of Battle B-Daman (one of the series of B-Daman). The toys launch a marble from their centre and each contains different skills; power, control, balance, accuracy and rapid fire.

Battle B-Daman

Battle B-Daman is an anime series that first aired in 1997 in Japan and replaced Beyblade. It was aired in the US in 2005 – the same time that Hasbro then began to sell the toys. The series is set in the B-DaWorld where people use B-Daman marble shooters in sport and to resolve conflicts. Yamato Delgado (the main character) has always dreamed of battling with B-Daman and finally gets the most powerful B-Daman – Cobalt Blade. Yamato was raised by cats until he was five and has cat-like abilities – he can land on four paws etc. and never thought he'd have the chance to play the official sport of B-Daman, but now anything seems possible. Together with his friends Gray and Terry, Yamato discovers only he has the skills to harness the full powers of Cobalt Blade and must learn the sport of B-Daman. Along the way he also discovers the value of friendship and how he must save the B-DaWorld from the Shadow Alliance.

Main Characters in the Battle B-Daman series

Yamato

Yamato is the hero of the series and 11 years old. He was raised by cats until he was five and never thought it possible that he would play the official sport, let alone become the B-DaChampion! He was given the legendary B-Daman, Cobalt Blade, and the series follows his adventures using it. Yamato has bright red hair and blue eyes in the series and usually wears white trousers, a blue waist coat and blue gloves. He also wears a yellow scarf around his neck and green glasses on his head. With his cat-like abilities, he's agile and precise in the way he moves.

Terry

Terry befriends Yamato but also rivals him. Terry was seen in the very first episode when he helped out Yamato when some bullies were threatening him. He's a ninja from Japan, but has a Scottish accent, and his B-Daman is Wing Ninja. He's 10 years old and many fans often mistake him for a girl!

Gray

Although a friend of Yamato, Gray has often tried to steal Cobalt Blade but has been unsuccessful each time. He befriended Yamato in an effort to stop the Shadow Alliance with his B-Daman – Chrome Zephyr. Gray was once a member of the Shadow Alliance because they had his sister Lieanna, but he rescued her and she now travels with Yamato and his friends. Gray is a tough guy and is 12 years old.

Bull

Bull has three egos; a calm side, a more confident, mature side and a reckless side which is obvious when he is B-Dabattleing. When his B-Daman, Helio Breaker is in his hands, Bull's red-haired evil side is unleashed – a strange character!

Marda B.

Marda B. established the Shadow Alliance and is the main bad guy in the series. Marda B. invented B-Daman and has never been defeated, he also started the Neo Shadow Alliance when Ababa's group was defeated. He is seen as a flaming eye in the sky in the series.

Enjyu

Enjyu is a member of the Shadow Alliance and killed everyone in his village with his B-Daman, Lightning Kahn. Enjyu used to be good before joining the Shadow Alliance but turned bad when he decided to challenge his dad because he was profiting from his battles.

Wen Yong Fa and Li Yong Fa

Wen is the oldest brother and Li is the youngest. Both originally members of the Shadow Alliance, their power often comes from cheating. Wen left the Shadow Alliance and then helped Yamato defeat Marda B and rescue his brother from the Neo Shadow Alliance. Their B-Daman's are Red Dragon Rekuso and Blue Dragon Bakuso and they can be combined to create the Bakurekuso.

B-Daman Game Rules

In Hasbro's tournament set the ten games are:

DBH - Direct Hit Battle

Opponents must shoot at each other's B'Daman until one of the switches is hit - this causes a cap to block the barrel.

Tag Team DBH

The same principles as DBH apply, but team mates are allowed to be tagged in. If your tag team partner's armour has been disabled you can't tag them in though.

DBH Havoc

Again, the same principles as DBH apply, but the opposing B-Daman is behind barricades.

Shoot the Gap

Players must shoot between target pins without hitting them.

B- Daman Assault

Players must attempt to flip their opponent's gate in 30 seconds.

B-Daman Blast

Players must flip four gates using six marbles.

B-Daman Invasion

Players must shoot at the battle puck in the B-dabattlefield until it reaches one of the baselines.

Battle Hammer

Players must shoot the battle puck as far as they can in five shots

Ultimate Strike

Players must shoot down as many target pins as they possibly can with just one shot.

B-DaChallenge

Each player must set up a shot and try to complete it. If they succeed, their oponent must complete it.
