Adding a new page/article on the Toy Review

  1. You will need to create an account or log in to be able to upload an image. If you are unsure how to do this please read the Sign Up section.

important info  Before you think about adding a new page on the Toy Review, please make sure a completely separate page is needed; perhaps it is better to add your text to a page that already exists that is related to what you are writing about (especially if your text is quite short). Just ask yourself this – does my article need a new page or can it be put on a page that already exists? If you decide your article definitely needs a new page continue reading this section, if not please read editing a page.

  2. Choose a title for your new page
  3. important info  Choosing a title for your new page must be considered carefully. You must name your article something sensible – other people must be able to tell what your article is about just be reading the title.

important info  To make this user guide simple, we will pretend we wish to add an article on a My Scene Madison doll from the Goes Hollywood collection throughout this example. First put the name of the product (e.g. My Scene), then the collection (e.g. Goes Hollywood) then the actual name of the product (eg. Madison). So this example would read My Scene Goes Hollywood Madison. Please ensure your title begins with capital letters.

  4. Using the search box at the top of the site search to see if someone has already written a similar page before you start one yourself (so search for My Scene Goes Hollywood Madison in this example). Make sure you use the search box at the top right hand corner of the home page. This is very important – we don't want two different pages with an article on the same thing!
  5. The search results will show any other related articles so scan through them just to make sure a similar article has not been written. The picture below shows the results – if the sentence 'No page with this exact title exists' is displayed you may go ahead.
  6. Click on the 'this exact title' part which is in a red font. You now have a whole box to write your article in. You can use the toolbar at the top to change fonts and upload images.

  7. Click on the 'Show Preview' button (where the black arrow is pointing in the image above) to make sure your article looks OK and any pictures are in the right place.
  8. Once you have finished press the 'Save Page' button (where the red arrow is pointing in the image above).
  9. important info  You can also edit your article if you're not happy with it. There is one final thing you MUST do to ensure other people will be able to find your article though:

  10. On the brand page (in this example the brand page would be My Scene and if you'd written about a Power Rangers toy the brand page would be Power Rangers etc) you need to add a link to the page you just created. First, simply press edit on the brand page (where the black arrow is).
  11. You will see a heading right at the bottom of the page called 'Links to toys reviewed by visitors on The Toy Review'. Underneath the other links, put the name of your page you just created (shown by the red arrow below). Make sure you put a star in front of it (which automatically creates a bullet point) and two square brackets either side (which will automatically create a link to your page).
  12. important info  You will now have successfully written an article – thank you for contributing!
