Kondo KHR-2HV Robot Gets a New Suit

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Kondo Robot in New A-621 GENEX SuitThe KHR-2HV, the second generation humanoid robot kit from Kondo has just been upgraded to the A-621 GENEX suit to give it a bit more style. Many commented that the KHR-2HV wasn’t exactly the best looking robot the world has seen and to be honest looked more like it had been made out of leftover metal pieces from a scrap yard!

Kondo’s also supplying a range of soccer uniforms that will be sold separately and are expected to cost about $10. The suit will cost around $152 (approx. £75) and will be launched in Japan in the next few weeks.

I have just discovered the iKaraoke; an all in one microphone processor that allows you to sing along with the favourite tunes on your iPod. You simply plug the device into your iPod and select the songs you want to sing along to, you can even plug in and play the whole lot on your stereo so the whole family can hear your beautiful voice!

The iKaraoke is made by Griffin Technology who specialise in manufacturing hardware and software products for the Mac and other popular brands.

Available at Amazon.com for $34.94 and Amazon.co.uk for £16.90. For more information see the Griffin Technology website.

WowWee Roboreptile Robotic Reptile half price

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

WowWee Roboreptile Robotic ReptileThe Wowwee Roboreptile is a robotic reptile that is able to interact with its surroundings and is an extremely advanced piece of technology for a children’s toy. The reptile is programmed to be fully alert and aggressive, drowsy or unresponsive. The creature is sound and touch sensitive therefore his surroundings will decide whether he’s a harmless reptile or an aggressive monster. For this reason, the toy isn’t suitable for anyone aged 3 or below. You are able to calm roboreptile by feeding him special electronic food.

There are different modes the roboreptile can operate in; firstly, you are in charge and you use the remote to directly control the movements of the toy. There is also the ‘free roam’ option where you allow roboreptile to roam free. You will be surprised at the number of movements he can make; he can walk at a number of speeds, jump, move his tail, shake and make biting movements.

The toy is currently selling at Amazon.com for $59.99 reduced from $199.99 – that’s a 50% discount.

Kids go crazy for Cyberman Voicechanger Helmet

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Doctor Who Cyberman Voicechanger HelmetChristmas is fast approaching, the trees and decorations are going up and everybody is shopping like mad to get all the presents they need for Christmas day. If you need an idea for a boy’s gift this year then the Cyberman Voicechanger Helmet could be the perfect solution. The cheapest I could find the toy is £29.99 from lxdirect.com which is quite reasonable compared to the price other stores are selling it for.

The Cyberman Voicechanger Mask is a replica Cyberhead from the Doctor Who series and has three buttons that all have different functions, one plays phrases spoken by the Cyberman, another changes your own voice to the tones of the Cyberman and the final button makes weapon sound effects. For Doctor Who fans this is the perfect gift and could be a great toy to play tricks on the family at Christmas. The Toy Retailers Association have placed this as one of their ‘Top Toys 2006’ and it is set to be one of the most popular Christmas gifts this year.
