About Us

Why has this website been set up?

There are thousands of websites dedicated to children's toys; however most only provide brief content about the product, such as target age group and packaging details. There is rarely any detailed information on the background of the toy, its' appearance, features end educational value, or images showing what the toy looks like from close up or any of its accessories. The majority of websites selling toys all have the same photographs and brief descriptions. TheToyReview.com has been set up to create a central space online where users from all over the world can upload reviews and images of their own and express their own opinions of a particular toy to create an unbiased website. In turn this will benefit other visitors on the site who want to know more about that toy before purchasing it. The software installed on this website is called a Wiki, which means visitors to the site are able to submit content, photos and reviews – ultimately resulting in a website containing the opinions and content of millions of people all over the world. This means the site is completely unbiased and not just the opinions of those who first set up the website. TheToyReview.com is not affiliated with any of the brands/products shown on this website, however does aim to sell the toys through affiliate links in the future. The opinions expressed and photos displayed on this site are those submitted by the general public and although TheToyReview.com will not be held responsible for any false information, the creators of the website do their utmost to maintain the website accurately.

What's a Wiki?

Most people who use the Internet regularly have probably come across WikiPedia at one point or another - the great online encyclopedia that allows anyone to submit their own content. As the aim of TheToyReview.com is to create an unbiased space where users all over the world can submit their own content, installing a Wiki onto the site makes this possible. Tips on the best way to take photographs to submit on the site

The best photos of a toy are those that there are lots of! Try taking photos from different angles, some close up, some far away, some inside the packaging, some in different outfits and some of all the accessories. If the photos come out dark and surrounded by shadows, try making your very own light tent!

The Light Tent

A light tent is a small tent surrounded by white sheets that reduces the shadows dramatically and creates a soft white background for the toys. It takes about an hour to build and makes such a difference to the photographs. To build your very own light tent you will need:

  • Plastic plumbing pipes
  • Pip joints
  • A white bed sheet
  • Pipe glue
  • Large energy saving lights
  • A few screws
  • White Card
